Our bike chalets are the perfect base for a self-guided cycling holiday in the Alps

Stay half board on a room by room basis in our main bike chalet, Alpine Velo Landry. Big groups can rent it sole occupancy too. Small groups can enjoy Alpine Velo Montalbert instead (sleeps 6 to 8). Both are close to Bourg Saint Maurice.

Alpine Velo’s self-guided cycling holidays are mainly based at our friendly bike chalet in Landry, a charming rural village just 7km from Bourg St Maurice. In the heart of the Savoie Mont Blanc region, with more high altitude road climbs than any other part of the French Alps, it’s in the perfect spot for an alpine cycling holiday and is designed with your comfort as a cyclist in mind.

The rooms in Alpine Velo Landry are all ensuite, and most have balconies too. There are several sunny terraces with mountain views for chilling with a cold beer after your ride, a sauna, outdoor hot tub (supplement), spacious sitting room with comfy sofas and log stove, dining room with a large communal table, and a secure bike store with workshop area, track pump and fettling space.

Small groups of 6 to 8 cyclists also have the choice of staying half board at our smaller chalet in a charming mountain hamlet just above Aime, 7km back along the valley towards Moutiers. Alpine Velo Montalbert has 3 ensuite bedrooms, 2 optional additional bedrooms, a large sitting room with log stove and doors to the garden, a dining room and terraced gardens with an outdoor sauna and lovely mountain views.

LARGE FRIENDLY CYCLING CHALET (sleeps up to 13 + 12)

There’s also a large sitting room with comfy sofas and log stove, dining room, sauna, hot tub, garden and several terraces with lovely mountain views. Non-cycling friends, partners or spouses are very welcome too (we’ve got double as well as single beds) and there’s plenty for them to do.

Other chalet facilities include:

  • Dining terrace & BBQ area
  • Library area with maps, route suggestions & cycling guide books
  • Infrared sauna
  • Outdoor wood fired hot tub (400€ supplement, sole occupancy groups only)
  • Laundry service
  • WIFI internet, DVD library, books and games
  • Secure bike store
  • Workshop area with basic tools, track pump, repair stand & bike washing facilities

See our gallery for more photos of the chalet.

Alpine Velo Montalbert (sleeps 6 to 8)

Stylishly renovated, it has lots of rustic alpine charm as well as modern comforts. It offers:

  • 3 ensuite bedrooms (all can be twins or doubles, and one a quad), and two optional additional bedrooms (extra charge)
  • a large sitting room with log stove
  • dining room and sun terraces
  • outdoor wood fired sauna
  • WIFI, laundry facilities, and a bike store with workshop area.

Be warned, there’s a bit of a climb back up to the chalet (7km / 400m ascent), but it’s a quiet road.

Our focus is on real food, all our dishes are cooked from scratch and we use organic or locally reared meat where we can, as well as free range chicken and eggs, and support small scale artisan producers locally and in the surrounding region.

Breakfast includes porridge and eggs as well as the standard yogurt, cereals, fruit and bread. We also make our own cakes or biscuits for afternoon tea, and provide high carb pasta salads too. Dinner is a friendly 3 course affair (wine and beer included), served outside on the dining terrace if the weather is good.
